NY Banjo features many of the world’s most influential banjo players – all with ties to New York – performing a concert that will find the banjo being played in both conventional and unexpected ways. In performances ranging from solos and duets to full-tilt banjo blowouts with all the players, the concert will feature music ranging from bluegrass and old-time country music to jazz, classical and rock. Generally considered the most accomplished master of the instrument, Béla Fleck will be joined by fellow pickers Tony Trischka, Bill Keith, Richie Stearns, Eric Weissberg, Pete Wernick and Mac Benford and an acoustic group featuring Russ Barenberg (guitar), Jesse Cobb (mandolin), Alex Hargreaves (fiddle) and Corey Dimario (bass).
