Part of the Dance in Albany Series
The multinational trio of Tatiana Desardouin, Lauriane Ogay and Mai Lê Hô brings societal issues to light through their street dance, hip-hop, house and clubbing styles. In a program exploring the “groove,” the threesome use it as a road map to social justice through the physical expression of Black culture.
This performance takes place at the UAlbany Performing Arts Center
Support for the performance by Passion Fruit Dance Company is provided by the NYS DanceForce, a partnership program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the New York State Governor and Legislature. Additional funds provided by the University at Albany Foundation and University Auxiliary Services.
This performance is part of the “Dance in Albany” performance series, presented in collaboration with the UAlbany Performing Arts Center, offering a diverse mix, ranging from the work of iconic choreographers Bill T. Jones and Mark Morris and the return of tap legend Savion Glover, to explorations of African American movement from modern to hip-hop to street club by the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, to the athleticism of Monica Bill Barnes to the fusion of illusion and motion by NoGravity Theatre, along with opportunities to experience the artistry of Ellen Sinopoli in both January and May.
We also invite you to a free performance by the Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company at the UAlbany Performing Arts Center on Jan. 27 in a collaboration with that venue’s resident ensemble, the Capital Trio.
